Our Mission
The HaltingWinter Podcast exists to elevate the people and stories behind local government.
Every thriving community has leaders whose work often goes unnoticed. Our mission is to shine a national spotlight on those leaders, their journeys, and the impact local government has on everyday life.
Through authentic conversations, we hope to inspire current public servants, encourage the next generation to consider careers in local government, and remind people that government isn’t just found in Washington, D.C.—it’s found in the cities, counties, and communities where life happens every day.
What to Expect
This isn’t an interview—it’s a conversation.
Rather than working from a list of prepared questions, we use the story of your life as the framework for our conversation. Seth will begin with a brief introduction before inviting you to start at the beginning.
Our first question is always simple: “Tell us a little about where you were born and the childhood that shaped you.”
From there, we’ll naturally walk through your journey from childhood to your first job, your path into public service, the leadership lessons you’ve learned, the challenges you’ve faced, and the experiences and people that have shaped who you are today.
Most episodes run between 60 to 80 minutes.
Our listeners aren’t looking for polished speeches or perfect answers. They’re looking for authentic stories, practical wisdom, and encouragement from leaders who have walked the path before them.
Our goal isn’t to showcase perfect leaders. It’s to showcase authentic leaders.
The Recording Experience
We record virtually using Riverside FM, an easy-to-use online recording studio.
Before your recording, you’ll receive a simple link to join the session. There’s nothing to download, and we’ll walk you through everything when you arrive.
We record both high-quality audio and video so we can share your story in multiple ways. Portions of the conversation may be used for social media, but there is absolutely no expectation that you have a professional studio or television-quality setup.
In fact, we’d much rather have you feel comfortable than look professional.
A quiet room, a reliable internet connection, and a genuine conversation are all you need.

That’s exactly what we’re hoping for.
Our goal is for this to feel less like a podcast interview and more like sitting down for coffee with a colleague while sharing the story of your leadership journey.
